The Italian artist Lara Favaretto was a revelation at Glasgow’s Tramway last year. The single and group arrangements of spinning carwash brushes, in the most delicate of palettes, evoked Kounellis, Rothko, and the Barbapapas. Favaretto’s work is both playful and monumental, and the note of transience as the brushes’ whirling gradually wore them out was crucial. Destined to disintegrate over the course of the show, square blocks of confetti in the centre of the space emphasised Favaretto's poetic engagement with organic evolution, chance, the audience and unplanned experiment.
